The work of the National Network of European clubs supported by the EU under the Europe for Citizens Programme, which the decision of the European Parliament and the Council approved for the period since 2007. 2013

This EU program supports a wide range of activities and organizations that promote "Active European Citizenship" that is involving citizens and civil society the process of European integration.

Europe House received financial support under the Europe for Citizens for the implementation of the project Through extra curricula activities of European clubs to better Europe, during 2009/10 year.


Objectives and priorities

Provide citizens, especially young people and their teachers, an opportunity for interactive participation in the construction of Europe - the European identity and citizenship; Improvement of tolerance and mutual understanding between European citizens, respect for and promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity, the development of intercultural dialogue Stimulating action, discussion and reflection on European citizenship and democracy, shared values, history and culture through the cooperation of civil society organizations and educational institutions at the European level; Enrichment of informal learning for active European citizenship

Current activities
The first meeting under project Through the extra curricula activities of European clubs to a better Europe was held in Zadar, from 9 to 13 September 2009.
The participants were thirty representatives of the International Network of European clubs from Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Germany, France, Polish, Lithuania and Greece, who spoke about their current activities and involvement of Croatian schools in international projects. During the five-day meeting were held interactive lectures, presentations and workshops at which participants were able to gain insight into the work of individual European teams and projects and to become familiar with European and national policies on youth. Tatjana Corlija from the Government Office for NGOs presented the program of the European Union's Europe for Citizens, which is a non-governmental organization offering financial and technical assistance in implementing projects in the period since from 2007 till 2013. Lifelong learning programs such as Comenius and Leonardo da Vinci, which offer opportunities for young people travel and education abroad, presented Andelka Kukavica from the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes. Luis Lopez from Portugal presented an international network of European clubs and their activities. Hans-Martin Pleuger from Germany and Jur Moorlag from the Netherlands described the new joint venture Hanza. SNOP and PONS is project aimed to build links and bridges between young Germans and immigrants, presented by the Wilfried Muller from Boon. Manuella Portier, representative of the European House in Paris, presented the activities of her organization focused on youth, while Mariana Popescu from Romania talked about the activities carried out by the leaders and members of APELL organizations - associations of educators and students. Margarita Todorova from the Bulgarian city of Veliko Turnovo, presented the experience of young Bulgarians, acquired in EU programs. Ana Maria Pereira and Margarida Mariza, Portuguese representatives, spoke about the European dimension in education and about the importance of education for European values. Participants had the opportunity to visit a few primary and secondary schools - Elementary school Simon Kozicic Benja and Hotel-tourism and hospitality school from Zadar and High school in Obrovac.
Another meeting was held on 25 to 29 April 2010 in Lohmar, Germany.
